Assuring Education Quality in the New Era

Preparing for your readiness self-assessment: a practical guide

The readiness self-assessment is more than a hurdle. Here is how to use it to strengthen your organization before peer review.

Person completing a written self-assessment

Phase 2 of CEQAC accreditation asks you to rate your organization against five core standards: Yes, Partially, or No, with a short explanation or example for each rating. Most providers complete it in two to four weeks.

Start with evidence, not adjectives

For every rating, point to something a reviewer could look at: a curriculum map, an assessment rubric, learner outcome data, a policy document. If you cannot find the evidence, that is useful information too.

Know the thresholds

  • Score at least “Partially” on all five standards.
  • Score “Yes” on at least three standards.
  • Provide an improvement plan for any area marked “No”.

Treat gaps as a plan

An honest “Partially” with a credible plan is more valuable than an optimistic “Yes”. The self-assessment exists to help you understand expectations, strengthen practice, and prepare the evidence you will need for full review.
